Parking Information

525 N. Tryon Parking Garage History:

Located on 9th street directly under the building, the 607-space subsurface facility consists of three spacious levels.  Metal halide lamps provide generous illumination. The facility is equipped with a more-than-adequate coverage of pan-and-tilt cameras, intercoms, scream alarms and security panic stations that are directly tied into the building's 24-hour security control center.  On-site security is also available to assist patrons with tire changes, jump starts or locating a vehicle.  Although not currently in use, the facility is completely wired and the infrastructure is in place for secure access.  A simple flip of a switch is all that is needed to activate these systems should the need ever arise. Tenants using the facility are never exposed to the elements, since the centrally located elevator lobby provides convenient access directly into the building's main lobby.  An attractive way-finding system was incorporated into the design to help tenants and visitors locate their vehicles easily.  The walls of each elevator lobby are covered in oversized, colorful vinyl graphics that depict the building's public artwork.  In addition, the doors and frames and elevator doors and frames of each lobby are painted in a different bold color that compliments its vinyl image.  This individual and bright look of each lobby helps to jog the parker's memory.  The P1 level lobby, for example, features a large photograph of the building's Tension Dome, complimented with trim of a bold sky blue color.

Parking Policy:

Like any other institution, the parking garage has rules and regulations, which must be abided by in order to better serve customers.  Follow all signs posted in the deck, and never drive the wrong way.  The speed limit in the parking deck is 5 miles per hour, and it is recommended that you put your car lights on when your vehicle is in motion.  Clearance for the parking garage is 6' 8".  Vehicles that exceed this height cannot access the garage.

Access Cards:

Although its use is unlimited; your access card is to be used exclusively by you and in sequential order.  If your card is used out of sequence, it will deny you access to the parking deck.  If you choose to use your access card to let a friend or a client out of the parking deck, then your access will be denied when you try to leave the deck.  In such a case, you will be subject to pay the maximum daily rate, which must be paid before exiting the garage.  In the event that you misplaced or forgot your access card at home, a transient ticket must be used in order to get access to the parking garage.  That transient ticket must be validated in the parking manager's office before 5:00 p.m. in order to receive free parking for the day.  Cashiers are not authorized to validate tickets and you will be charged the daily rates if the ticket is not validated.  Subleasing your parking garage access card is not allowed and cardholders may have their paring privileges terminated for doing so.

Smoking:

Smoking is permitted on the P-1 level of the garage.

Ticketing Policy:

Clients are given a ticket as a first time offender.  This is only to let you know that you are in violation of the parking facility regulations.  Your vehicle information has been recorded for our records, and upon second violation your vehicle may be towed at owner's expense.

Towing:

As a last resort, your car may be towed.  Every conceivable effort will be made before a car is towed.  Customers should update their tag number and phone number at the parking office.  Most common reasons for towing include: parking in no parking areas, parking in reserved or disable parking areas without proper permit, and repeat offenders who continue to violate general parking rules.
